5 Instagrammable spots in Puerto Princesa this holiday season

Puerto Princesa City is more than its postcard-perfect scenic spots. This holiday season, various agencies and institutions started adorning different places with colorful Christmas lights and ornaments as part of the Filipino tradition of celebrating the season.

Here are five of the most picturesque spots in Puerto Princesa for shots this holiday season:

Puerto Princesa Baywalk

As we welcomed the month of December, thousands of Puerto Princesans, city government leaders, and tourists gathered at the Puerto Princesa Baywalk on the night of December 1 to officially welcome the holiday season with the annual lighting of a 100-foot tall community Christmas tree.

This year’s design is meant to look bright and attractive not only at night but also in the daytime, so you may go to the baywalk and snap those Christmas selfies any time this month.

SM City Puerto Princesa

SM City Puerto Princesa officially launched their pre-Christmas campaign on November 8, 2019 with #SparkingSMallidays.

The resort-style mall instantly became a Paris-themed wonderland complete with all the glitters and characters that best speak of the joyous celebration with not just one but two Christmas Trees. There’s the 50-foot Eiffel Tower-inspired Christmas Tree at the mall’s events ground and a 30-foot indoor Christmas Tree located at the mall’s lower ground level.

Freedom Park at City Coliseum

Unknown to many, the park outside the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum is called the Freedom Park, which provides a nice place to relax, bond with family and friends, and sometimes enjoy mini concerts and bazaars.

This season, the park was sprinkled with more lights and decorations in line with the season. The huge fountain at its center has multicolor beams too.

Mayad Café, a quaint coffee shop popular to yuppies also adds to the Coliseum park grounds’ majestic ambience especially at night.

New and Green City Halls

Decorated by the City Government employees thru a team competition, the 2-level New City Hall and the 4-level Green City Hall have been transformed into Christmas Carnival realms.

Using mostly recyclable and reusable materials, participating teams made spectacular displays that made each corner of the buildings a cool spot for a selfie.
